When I was in school studying information systems security, I heard a disturbing phrase over and over again. That infamous phrase was "the next big war will be fought with computers." What's interesting about that phrase is that I heard it from several different instructors in different classes. News about hackers and hacking attacks are becoming as frequent as the more "traditional" crimes being reported these days, but they should be observed carefully.
Just about everything in our modern society is controlled by computers, which always presents the possibility of an attack. Whether the attack is snooping or manipulating hardware, the threat of cyber attacks is a real threat no longer just the thing of a science-fiction story line. The following videos show just how real a cyber attack is and what that could potentially means for our water systems, nuclear facilities, etc., if the proper security measures are not put in place to protect these systems.
