Exploiting Iframe Vulnerability

Web developers use inline frames (iframes) when they want to embed an HTML document within another HTML Document. Unfortunately iframes have a vulnerability which can be exploited. According to

WhatIs.techtarget.com, "In early 2008, hackers seeded Internet search results with malicious IFrame code, leading toIFrame overlay attacks on many prominent websites, including those for USA Today and ABC News. The attackers inserted IFrame code into the saved search results of legitimate websites. When a visitor clicked on a link from the compromised search tool, he would be redirected to a malicious website by the IFrame code. The unsuspecting user's computer would then be vulnerable to the automatic download of malware."

Our friends over at ehacking.net have illustrated how to exploit an Iframe vulnerability, here's a sneak peek:

<iframe src=”http://www.ehacking.net”></iframe>

The above statement shows how to display another website within a website.

Example 2:

<iframe src=’http://ehacking.net/’ width=’500′ height=’600′ style=’visibility: hidden;’></iframe>

Width and height of an iframe has been defined, but since the frame visibility is hidden there is no physical presence of Infosec Institute’s website. This technique is not used by the attacker because the frame occupies the area (width and height).

<iframe src=’http://ehacking.net/’ width=’1′ height=’1′ style=’visibility: hidden;’></iframe>

Now it is completely hidden from the user’s eye, but the iframe is working as normal. Look at the picture below.

Gamers Corner: Have You Heard About OuYa?

If you haven't heard about the Ouya allow me to fill you in. Ouya is a new kick-ass gaming console that has the potential to level the video game playing field, making it easier for game developers to develop games for the television (apparently in the current closed industry that's extremely difficult). While Ouya isn't meant to be in direct competition with 'The Big Three' (Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo) it is still venturing into their territory.

I'd like to imagine Ouya emerging on the gaming scene like a young fearless David on the battlefield against not one -- not two -- but three Goliaths and fortunately Ouya has three stones in its satchel. Not that I have anything against the Big Three, but I'm all for leveling playing fields and putting power in the hands of the little guy (not to mention I like a good fight every once in a while). A few notable things are that the Ouya is open source, built on Android, hackable, and extremely affordable (how does $99 sound to ya?) Check out the video below:

Summary: "More and more companies are saving big money on hardware, software, and IT management by virtualizing many of their most mission-critical server operations.

But traditional backup systems aren't designed for virtual environments, and trying to back up virtual data using traditional methods can be time-consuming and wasteful of both time and disk space.
Join us for our webinar and you will learn:
■   How VMs complicate data protection – and how to choose a backup solution that takes full advantage of the VM environment, not just works around it
■   What the traditional methods of protecting virtual data are – and why none of them are optimal
■   Why snapshot backups are useful – and why, for mission-critical data, they are not nearly enough

How To Stay Creative

It's a well known fact that just about every great writer has experienced writers block at certain times in their careers. If you ask 100 writers how they get past the block, I'm sure you'll get close to 100 unique answers. I've acquired a few methods over the years that always seem to help me get past writers block. Things like taking frequent breaks to allow the mind to rest, forcing yourself to work through the block, and doing something none related to the topic you're writer about have all helped me when I hit the infamous writer's roadblock.

What happens when your creativity well seems to run dry? How do you get those creative juices flowing again? I happen to be an artist and from time to time, I design things for people and when it comes time to come up with an idea, my mind goes blank. I'm sure this may happen to you as well. Whether you're an artist, author, or systems administrator you need to use a certain amount of creativity to get the job done, and a lack of creativity can be a pain in the derriere, but do not fret I have come across 29 ways for you to stay creative. Could 'The Leap' Be The Beginning Of The End For The Mouse?

Throughout my studies in IT I've always heard of Microsoft and Apple stealing borrowing the computer  mouse from Xerox leading me to believe that perhaps Xerox developed it; however, today I ran across a name that should be mentioned in every A+ certification book and computer science course -- Douglas Engelbart, the man responsible for the invention of the first mouse somewhere around 1964. In 1970 he received a patent (patent # 3,541,541) for the device known as a "X-Y Position Indicator For A Display System."

The mouse has had a good run thus far (40+ years ain't too shabby), but with innovations like The Leap by Leap Motion, the mouse may be close to seeing it's last days. Check out the video below and let me know if technology like The Leap will bring about the demise of the computer mouse:
