The Ataribox Unveiled... Well A Little

Photo: Atari
So Atari is back in the hardware business, huh? That was the word a few months back when the company released a teaser video of what is known as the Ataribox - a gaming system/PC for TV thingamajig. When news first broke about the former titan of hardware gaming making a come back the 9 year old inside of me jumped for joy, but of course the adult gamer in me had some questions that needed to be answered. Although the company is back to the console arena (in some capacity) exactly what type of system is it? Will it be a throwback system playing solely retro video games like the Nintendo Entertainment System Classic Edition? Or will it be something that directly rivals the established console giants Xbox, Playstation and Nintendo? Or God forbid, it's something remotely like the ill-fated Ouya.

Bioware's Anthem Should Have Been Nintendo's Contra Reboot

I just finished watching the trailer for Bioware's upcoming sci-fi game Anthem. Aside from the astonishing graphics and smooth game play, I couldn't help but to think this game would have helped Nintendo hit it out of the park -- had it been a Contra reboot made exclusively for Nintendo of course. Could you imagine the response a reimagined Contra would have received at E3? I'm not talking slapping new graphics over an old school side scroller either, I'm talking about a first/third person shooter packed with aliens, high tech and all manners of baddassery. The audience would have lost their minds. To date there have been approximately 14 Contra games spanning different consoles and gaming devices from the original NES to Android to Xbox360. Even the Wii had a version in 2009. It's only right that the latest iteration of Nintendo consoles include a new version of Contra too, and by new version I mean built from the ground up and available only for Nintendo. This may be the direction the company may need to take to remain competitive against the other 2 console titans.

What do you think? Would rebooting classic games be a viable strategy for Nintendo to compete with Xbox and Playstation? Leave your comments in the comment section below.

Introducing Samsung's Bixby

Samsung revealed Bixby, the mobile phone assistant whose key point is it's an intelligent tool meant to declutter your phone allowing the user to be much more efficient by using one app to control others. Bridging the gap between voice, touch, vision and AI, Bixby seems to enhance the user phone experience by combining functions from other mobile assistants like Google Assistant and Siri and improving upon them. Bixby's ability to learns your daily habits and places you've been and make suggestions based on that data is both creepy and cool at the same time. In a nutshell, Bixby is like Google Assistant, Siri and Amazon search all in one package with a little IoT functionality sprinkled on top. Check out the video below for more information:
