Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Instagram. Instagram's death was sudden. I remember hearing the news and just I couldn't believe it -- so young, so vibrant and full of life, how could it all be over this quick? I was overwhelmed by sadness, but I remembered that in such a short amount of time, Instagram lived a full life.
I met Instagram through mutual friends and we quickly hit if off and developed our own friendship. When I was bored or sad, I could always count on Instagram to be there to give me something constructive to do and lift my spirits; a true friend indeed. Instagram was always the life of the party and best of all knew how to keep things private; well until it started hanging around with the wrong crowd. Their influence proved to be too strong, and that was when things started to go downhill.
They didn't care much about Instagram's friends and started spying on every single person linked to Instagram. Being such a manipulative jerk, that so called friend talked Instagram into focusing solely on money and sacrificing its friends to do so. They even talked Instagram into allowing others to use their photos as a means to making money. No one is really sure how those guys got to Instagram, some say they bought out Instagram but what's known for sure is the strain they caused on all of Instagram's friends was unbearable and people began to drop one by one; and I know that began to kill Instagram slowly. I'm sure it was a slow, and agonizing death, but the truth of the matter is it wasn't necessary at all.
I believe in my heart if Instagram needed money, it could have suggested products or shown us ads from time to time we would have been more than happy to help out, but it never gave us that chance. So -- loved by many and known as a true friend. I am forever grateful for Instagram coming into my life when it did, and I will cherish the memories we shared. Now go on my friend, and rest....rest until we met again in that big photo book in the sky.

How Peer1's Customers Saved The Day
When disaster strikes, most companies like to keep things quiet and hide problems from customers because they fear customers may take their business elsewhere. This wasn't the case with Peer1 Hosting. When Hurricane Sandy left behind an abundance of water, the basement of the building where Peer1's data center was flooded and things got even trickier but that's when Peer1 and its customers did the unthinkable to keep things running:
[Early Tuesday, Peer1's Broad Street customers were warned that fuel supplies would soon be exhausted. Among those who got the email was Anthony Casalena, the founder and CEO of Squarespace, a Web publishing and content management firm. He was in his powerless apartment in downtown Manhattan....
...The data center manager suggested trying to get fuel supplies to the roof. They made arrangements with one of the fuel trucks on the street for supply. Fuel trucks have become a common sight since the power outage.

...The data center manager suggested trying to get fuel supplies to the roof. They made arrangements with one of the fuel trucks on the street for supply. Fuel trucks have become a common sight since the power outage.
Casalena was among those helping to carry fuel to the roof.
The generator-fueling effort got organized. More people begin showing up from Squarespace and another large user, Fog Creek Software. They included software developers, systems engineers, sales representatives, executives and support personnel.
A network of people, stationed at every staircase landing, formed a bucket brigade passing fuel from one person to the next. Several dozen may have been involved over multiple shifts, including some day laborers who were also hired to help.
"Over the next night into the morning, we were able to successfully continue to coordinate fuel trucks coming and manually move hundreds of gallons of diesel to the roof and keep the thing online," Casalena said.] source: computerworld

Intel Takes On Cybercrime At The Processor Level
Security threats are a clear and present danger in today's highly technological society. No one is safe and everyone is a potential target for cybercriminals. Whether a government institution, SMB, corporation or private citizens, all are fair game in the world of cybercrime. The leaps and strides made in technology over the past few years, have given birth to new threats and more sophisticated attacks.
IT professionals have met the problem head on implementing a multi-layered approach to combating security threats using a combination of hardware and software to mitigate various types of attacks which has proven to be successful; but as my father always says, "bigger mousetrap, bigger mouse." That simply means for every security measure put into place, someone will always be seeking out 'bigger' ways to break those measures. So in essence, the bigger the mousetrap gets, the bigger they make the mouse to overcome it.

That simple saying states exactly what's been going on over the years. Security appliances, software, etc., have gotten more "intelligent" and sophisticated, but so have cybercriminals. In a corporate setting, a power user with antivirus software and a software based firewall on their system is a pretty safe system (generally speaking) because the local security on their system in conjunction with the company's network security adds multiple levels of security; however, Intel is pointing out that even that isn't enough. The video below explains how Intel is taking security one step further by digging a little deeper and starting at the processor level, check it out:
